PLANNING is already well underway for Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations later this year in Teignmouth but there is still more to be done thus locals are encouraged to join an upcoming meeting to contribute ideas.

The meeting is scheduled for 6pm on Thursday, February 24, and is to be conducted via Zoom.

A working group is collaborating with local groups, charities, choirs etc to put together a variety of entertainment and activities for the whole community to come and enjoy.

The main performance stage will be on The Den from Thursday, June 2, to Sunday, June 5, and they also hope to have entertainment in other locations around the town.

As part of the event the council will be taking part in the Lighting of Beacons on Thursday, June 2.

A piper will play the Diu Regnare at 9.35pm before the beacon is lit at 9.45pm.

The Liberty Sisters and SW Lindy Hoppers will be performing in the afternoon on Friday, 3rd June.

On Saturday, June 4, there is to be a classic vehicles display on The Den

On Sunday, June 5, the Big Lunch will take place.

The Big Lunch began in 2009 and encourages communities to get to know each other a little better.

For additional information regarding the upcoming meeting and for other ways to get involved please contact them on 01626 775030 or email the town council.
