AN animal rescue charity is urging people to put a bowl of water in their garden to help a hedgehog in need.

With the continued dry spell we are seeing an increasing number of distressed and dehydrated hedgehogs coming in’ a spokesperson for ELM Wildlife said.

The charity, which runs a rescue centre from Seale Hayne, caters for upwards of 200 hedgehogs.

And with hoglet season well underway, that number is only set to increase.

The charity says that leaving a bowl of water outside will ‘save a life’.

One of the best ways to support hedgehogs is by offering them a regular supply of water, but it is not the only thing- creating a ‘hedgehog highway’, for example.
