STAFF at the Teign Estuary Medical Group said a fond farewell to retiring practice nurse Julie Jackson.
Julie, who has been in the role for 25 years, had also worked in accident and emergency in Derbyshire as well as as a midwife and health visitor before joining general practice.
A spokesman for the practice, which has Glendevon surgery in Teignmouth and Riverside Surgery in Shaldon, said: ‘Julie found her vocation in caring for the patients of Shaldon and Teignmouth.
‘She will be missed by those patients, as well as her colleagues.
‘She is retiring to spend many wonderful years in her flourishing garden and among her flourishing grandchildren.’
Before she left, she has been a mentor to her successor Jill Fairweather who has been with Teign Estuary as a senior healthcare assistant for several years, and was an enrolled nurse.
Jill has undergone further training and is awaiting re-approval to become a registered nurse before taking on Julie’s role.
