THE NHS is today (Wednesday) urged people to come forward for Booster jabs at two of Devon’s major walk-in vaccination sites.
A spokesperson said: ‘We know people are busy preparing for New Year or relaxing after Christmas, but we urge you to make the most of the opportunities available.’
Walk-ins are available at Greendale Vaccination Centre in Exeter today from 8am to 8pm. The centre will be open for the same times tomorrow (Thursday) and on New Year’s Eve from 8am to 4pm.
At Plymouth you can head to the John Kitto Sports Centre to get your first, second, third primary or booster vaccine today (Wednesday) until 4pm.
The spokesperson asked that people make sure they are eligible for their second dose or booster before turning up. Details on all Plymouth drop-in sessions are available at https://plymouthhospitals.nhs.uk/get-tested
The spokesperson added: ‘We doubled the number of people vaccinated in the first week after the Prime Minister’s announcement
‘Our staff and volunteers have rallied round, working extra days over the Christmas break and we have the capacity to vaccinate everyone who is eligible. We need people to come forward.
‘There are lots of walk ins and booked appointments – the best way to find them is online on the national booking system or the ‘find a walk in vaccination centre’ site.
‘Don’t be put off by the queues we had in the first week – Greendale has built in extra parking, the expanded capacity means people are going through very quickly.
‘You might get a sore arm but is normally short lived – and nothing in comparison with the impact of Covid.’
