Further new clusters of coronavirus cases in Devon have been added to the map today (Wednesday) – taking the total for the county to 56.

One new cluster in Torbay has been confirmed along one more in Exeter, two in North Devon, two in Torridge, one in the South Hams and three in Teignbridge, now that the MSOA map covers the September 27-October 3 period.

No clusters have dropped off the map in the Devon County Council or Torbay Council areas today, although two in Plymouth and one in Cornwall have, with Plymouth seeing two new clusters.

Existing clusters around Exeter have increased, although not as much as in previous days, with only 28 cases from October 3 being added.

The Pennsylvania and University cluster rises to 236, with rises to 59 and 33 respectively for Central Exeter and St James’s Park & Hoopern.

The University says that they continue to assess the situation daily and that by working closely with PHE colleagues, they know that most of those cases in Exeter are from the University and that to date there is still no evidence of transmission to the wider community.

It comes as a further 104 new cases – 71 of them in Exeter – were confirmed in the Devon County Council area today. There were nine new cases in East Devon, two in Mid Devon, three in North Devon, two in South Hams, 11 in Teignbridge, two in Torridge and four in West Devon. A further 12 cases were confirmed in Torbay and 24 in Plymouth.
