A HEAT health alert has been issued for the South West ahead of the UK’s third heatwave.

The alert comes into force from Wednesday, July 9 at 10am, lasting until July 15.

Temperatures are expected to hit as high as 33 degrees Celsius in some parts of England, though the South West will be relatively cooler, with temperatures expected to peak at around 27 degrees Celsius.

Significant impacts are possible across health and social care services due to the high temperatures, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) says.

A yellow heat health alert has also been issued for London, South East, East Midlands, West Midlands and the East of England.

The UKHSA’s alerting system provides an early warning when adverse temperatures are likely to impact on the health and wellbeing of the population.
