BORIS Johnson ‘successfully focused on the big issues ‘but ‘lost touch with the important day to day issues ‘ according to the chairman of the local Conservative Association
Phil Bullivant, chairman of the Newton Abbot Conservative Association, said: ‘The resignation of the Prime Minister is not surprising given the volume of complaints raised against him.
‘There can be no doubt that the mistakes he has made since becoming elected as Prime Minister have led to this unstaisfactory situation but the fact that he lost the trust of his colleagues by not being frank and open about issues is a fact and has led to this inevitable result.
‘Boris will be remembered as a leader who successfully focused on the big issues whilst seeking to deliver election promises but lost touch with the important day to day issues that dominated the media during his leadership.
‘No-one is perfect but we need our leaders to be both focused on the big picture, deliver against their promises and recognise the need for openness and honesty when acting on behalf of us all.
‘We are fortunate that the party has a number of highly experienced and capable people who will now come forward for election to fill the role of Leader of the Conservative Party and assume the role of Prime Minister.
