This weekend, October 13 and 14, organisers of Torbay Art Show will be welcoming the public to a brand new art exhibition at Torquay Boys’ Grammar School.
Stunning works of art by more than 70 local and national artists will be on show and for sale, as part of a major fundraising initiative organised by the school’s Parents’ Association. The show is open from 10am to 5pm on both days and admission is free.
Award-winning comedian, TV personality and accomplished artist, Harry Hill, has donated one of his original paintings to the Torbay Art Show.
The image of World Darts Champion Andy ‘The Viking’ Fordham, which has been exhibited in the Royal Academy of Arts in London, will be sold in a silent auction over the weekend.
The public will be able to take up this exclusive opportunity to bid on the unique painting. If interested buyers are unable to attend, there is an option to make contact at [email protected] and their bid will be included in the silent auction.
Harry Hill said: ‘Thrilled to be supporting the refurb of the sixth form centre, let’s hope it’s reflected in the grades, and I know Andy would be too! Good luck to Torquay Boys’ Grammar School!’
Royal Academy of Arts acclaimed artist and former Newton Abbot student, Tony Blackmore, has created a brand new piece of artwork entitled ‘Draw, Score, Fold and Form’ which will be exhibited and for sale.
Tony Blackmore, also a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors, produced this lively creation in conjunction with his ‘Paperfolds’ series of work, a body of wall-based reliefs that are hand-folded from a single sheet of polyester film.
The Torbay Art Show has been organised by the Parents’ Association of Torquay Boys’ Grammar School, and all proceeds will go towards the refurbishment of the sixth form centre. The investment will see the sixth form take on a brighter, more spacious appearance with computer and study rooms for unsupervised learning and a new café area for students to join together in an open and friendly environment.
The show is being sponsored by a number of prominent local businesses including Cavanna Homes, Tolchards, Artizan Gallery and St David’s Equine.
