AN APPEAL has gone out for more volunteers to help a Teignbridge food bank.
Homeless in Teignbridge Support is hoping to attract more people to help with its Christmas hamper campaign.
It is aiming to raise £1,500 to produce 200 hampers for families in need over the festive season.
Suggestions for Christmas hamper recipients and the ages and genders of those school children in line to receive Christmas presents should be passed on to HITS no later than November 5.
This deadline is necessary as the charity is anticipating an influx in demand for their services following a flurry of key social issues seemingly coming to a head one after the other.
HITS spokesman David Cox said: ‘Your contribution will make a real impact, whether you donate a lot or a little.’
But the charity also needs more volunteers.
These include people to do van driving and indoor packing one day a week between 10am and 3pm.
They also need volunteers to regularly pick up food donations from businesses in the evening on Mondays and Thursdays 6pm to 7pm.
More volunteers are also required to help pack the Christmas hampers on weekends in November and deliver them in December.
