IT has been going for some time, and now the Carlton Theatre has finally disappeared. The demolition men have done their work and all that is left of the much loved but dilapidated old building is a big hole in the ground on Teignmouth seafront.

But work on the £5 million new replacement will start in the new year and it should be completed by the end of next year and, with a new name – Pavilions Teignmouth.

The name was selected from a long list of proposals by the new board of trustees, who have been appointed to guide the vision for the centre and shape its future.
