SUPPORTERS of the long promised Teign estuary trail took their case to County Hall, Exeter, yesterday afternoon.

They were due to present lobby members attending a council meeting with a petition signed by nearly 6,000 people, calling for a start to be made on the cycle-walkway.

It was first mooted 13 years ago, but the Exe estuary trail was given priority and now that is almost completed, there has been a campaign for the Teign scheme to be prioritised.

The action group wants confirmation that the project remains a priority; give a clear commitment and timescale for applying for planning permission to progress the section from Bishopsteignton to Kingsteignton; clarify the process and timescale for consulting the local community on alternative routes between Teignmouth and Bishopsteignton, and agree to keep the local community informed of developments.
