ROADSIDE grit is now so sought-after it is being stolen.

Thieves have been spotted emptying grit boxes at the side of Teignmouth roads into vans – either for their own use, or to sell.

Angry residents in some streets says it means they cannot treat the highway, leaving many stranded.

The big chill struck the Teignmouth area with a vengeance.

It was either a winter wonderland for youngsters, or a white nightmare if you were skidding on iced up roads trying to get to work, school or the shops.
