ONE of the loudest voices in advertising - Go Compare star Wynne Evans - has backed the Friends of the Alexandra Theatre team’s Save our Stage campaign and even offered to sing for them.

The celebrated Welsh opera singer made the offer after he noticed the campaign group’s latest Tweet.

The Friends were so delighted they responded: ’Eeek! Look who has just shared our "Save Our Stage" song on his Twitter account and offered to come and perform a concert at The Alexandra Theatre.

’Our campaign has gone national, everyone is watching how our council will respond.

’Will the councillors stand up and listen to their community or will they continue with their own vision and "gut" our town’s only theatre?

’To all on Teignbridge District Council⦠PS Our petition is now at over 5,800 signatures, surely they can’t ignore us for much longerâ.’

’For those who don’t know, Wynne Evans is a Welsh opera singer (Go Compare, man with tash) and his mother was Liz Evans whose story inspired the recent Sky Movies film Save The Cinema,’ concludes the Twitter message by the Friends.
