MORE than 50 dachshunds of all colours and sizes met in Teignmouth for the first Dachshund Day.
Organised by owner Nicky Roy and her dog Ziggy, the event saw the dogs meet up on The Den before heading off for a walk along the seafront.
The dachshunds were blessed with sunny and warm weather for the morning get together.
Nicky said: ‘It was brilliant, I was really really pleased.
‘We had such a good turn out, 54 dogs in total, and we had such positive comments from lots of people, thanking me for arranging it.
‘It was lovely to see all the dogs together.
‘And thank goodness for the weather, the heavens were looking down on us as it had been an absolute wash out during the night before.
‘I was really impressed with how the day went.
‘They are really popular dogs now and they are such divas.’
Many of the dachshunds there on the day were miniatures with only a few standard size dogs.
After the walk on the seafront and a coffee stop, there was a raffle draw with a first prize of £50 to spend at the Healthy Pet Shop, second £30 and third prize of £20.
It was such a success that Nicky is planning to hold another dachshund day soon.
She’s hoping to attract some sponsorship and charge a nominal fee for raffle tickets.
