KIND-hearted folk in Chudleigh have rallied behind a fundraiser launched in the wake of an assault by a group of teenagers during Saturday’s carnival.

A 13-year-old has been left with injuries to his face after being assaulted by a group teenagers on Saturday, July 19 at the town’s Multi Use Games Area (MUGA).

‘This was the day of the Chudleigh carnival and we believe the area was busy at the time’, says a spokesperson for Devon & Cornwall Police.

In the wake of the incident, a GoFundMe has been set up as police ask witnesses to come forward.

Police describe one victim, however the GoFundMe describes two victims.

With an initial target of £200, the fundraiser has already raised more than double that; £450 has been raised thus far.

‘We are raising a bit of money to give the boys a summer holiday treat’, the GoFundMe reads.

A group of young people of a similar age surrounded and assaulted the 13-year-old, who sustained actual bodily harm, say police.
