ORGANISERS of Teignmouth's River Beach and Harbour Festival have hailed the event a great success.

Modelled on the popular Harbour Fiestas of the 1970s and 1980s, last weekend's festival celebrated Teignmouth's relationship with the sea, combining the serious and the whacky in equal measure.

'We're absolutely thrilled that something came out of nothing. The town ran a three-day festival at a time when there is not a lot else on the town's calendar, which is why I think there is a lot of interest to keep it going,' said one of the organisers, Roger Kirk.
