A free computer class to help dispel fears that many older people have about using a computer and the internet is starting next month at Teignmouth Library.
Bill Deavall, director of Silver Surfers, is bringing his IT expertise to a new group of residents in Teignmouth. Silver Surfers is a community interest company which helps people who have never used computers or tablets before get started online. The class is designed to be friendly, informal, and to build confidence with this new technology, explaining the many benefits that using a computer or tablet can provide. These classes will be repeated throughout the year at Teignmouth library.
The course, which has been running successfully at libraries in other counties during 2015/16, is designed with the absolute beginner in mind. It covers basic tasks, how to use the internet, and how to use email. The people that come along love using their new-found skills, mainly to keep in touch with family, and can then surf the internet to pursue their interests, or get information from the internet, using tablets/iPads provided by Silver Surfers.
The free classes will run once every two months throughout the year, starting on October 1, 10am.
It’s easy to enroll for a free class. Simply call Bill at Silver Surfers on 01684 541 892, or drop in to Teignmouth library.
