A TEIGNBRIDGE library is to host free bike safety sessions.
The free ‘Dr Bike’ safety check sessions take place at Bovey Tracey Library on June 11.
Delivered with the Ride On team, these sessions are designed not only to check bikes for safety and performance, but to also teach participants how to maintain their bikes themselves.
The aim is to empower people with the skills and confidence to cycle more regularly, for both mental and physical wellbeing and to make cheaper and more sustainable travel choices.
Sam Wright from Ride On said: ‘Our free bike checks are a great way to ensure your bike is working well for the summer.
‘We find lots of people are held back by basic maintenance issues that are easily remedied – and our friendly mechanics will be happy to show you some basics to empower you in the future.
‘Freshly adjusted brakes, well inflated tyres and well-tuned gears can make a huge difference to how the bike performs, so book yourself a safety check and we’ll get you rolling!’
This partnership marks the first time Libraries Unlimited and Ride On have collaborated to deliver free bike repair and safety sessions within library spaces, bringing practical, accessible support directly into the heart of communities.
These sessions are part of Together for Tomorrow, an ambitious five-year programme led by Libraries Unlimited in partnership with Resource Futures and CAG Devon.
Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, Together for Tomorrow is transforming libraries into hubs for sustainability.
Alex Kittow, Chief Executive Officer, Libraries Unlimited said: ‘This project is such a fantastic example of how Libraries Unlimited is supporting both people and the planet.
‘By partnering with Ride On, we are giving people free practical support they need to get back on their bikes, save money and make more sustainable choices’.
