FOODIES will be in for a treat this summer as Newton Abbot gears up for three Summer Nights events – kicking off this weekend.
Stalls selling a vast array of delicious dishes from across the world will be pitching up in the town centre from 5pm on Saturday, June 15.
The popular spectacle – hosted by the town council, Born Hectic Events and Teignbridge Council – also features live music, stilt walkers and a range of children’s activities.
Guests are being encouraged to bring their own picnic ware to the event in a bid to reduce the amount of waste produced.
Leader of Teignbridge Council, Gordon Hook, said: ‘I have attended many of the Summer Nights events in previous years and have thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and drink and the relaxed atmosphere.
‘It is no secret that my wife Jackie and I are keen on any initiatives to preserve the environment and so we really like the practical idea of bringing our own cups ad plates and will encourage our friends to bring their own too. I look forward to seeing a huge turnout of people enjoying themselves.’
Motorists attending the street food event will be able to park for free in Wolborough Way, Venture Court, Cattle Market and Halcyon Road car parks from 4pm.
Sally Henley, town development manager, said: ‘These street food events have become very popular and it is great that the town council, Born Hectic Events and the district council are teaming up again for Summer Nights 2019.
‘Residents and visitors are invited to pop to Courtenay Street for a spot of early evening supper with their families.’
Summer Nights will be held on June 15, July 13 and August 17.
