HARD-UP Teignbridge families who rely on food parcels will have a few Christmas treats.

Festive goodies will be included in the packs, thanks to the generosity of residents and the efforts of charities, organisations and a supermarket.

The economic downturn has meant some families have difficulty in putting food on the table, and the demand on the foodbank run by Homeless in Teignbridge Support has doubled this year.

It had been planned to distribute 60 Christmas hampers, thanks to the generosity of Teignbridge Council chairman Cllr Rosalind Prowse.
