RESIDENTS in Bishopsteignton were invited to put their names to a book of condolence in the village.
Bishopsteignton Parish Council set up the book in the Hawkins Room at Bishopsteignton Community Centre which was open every day until Sunday.
Villager Gerry Rooke, who is the same age as Her Majesty the Queen, was the first parishioner to sign the book.
A parish council spokesman said: ‘Thanks to various people for your help setting this up and enabling the centre to be opened and closed for these extended times.
‘Special thanks to Linda Bond for her beautiful flowers.’
The flowers were picked from Linda’s garden and include rosemary for remembrance, dahlias to represent the Queen’s strength and dignity, heathers for her death in Scotland, a red rose to mark her place of rest in England and chrysanthemums to say goodbye.
