YELLOW fish have appeared on drain covers and kerb stones in Teignmouth town centre to draw attention to how residents and businesses can help prevent the sea from being closed to swimmers under stricter EU restrictions coming into force next year.
Two teams of Environment Agency and Teignbridge Council workers spray-painted 35 fish in the pedestrian areas of town on Tuesday, highlighting how pollution from these drains runs into the estuary and sea.
The teams received pledges of support for the campaign from more than 30 businesses.
