CREWS from Ashburton and Buckfastleigh tackled a tricky chimney blaze in Ashburton on Friday night.

The fire in Home Park began in the flue of a log burner and, due to the nature of it, had to be extinguished from the top rather than the conventional bottom.

Firefighters therefore had to use pspecialist ‘SHACS’ equipment and roof ladders to attack fire from roof of the property.

They also used small tools and chimney gear to extinguish the fire from hearth and roof.
