A MOORLAND fire station will be hosting a ‘Have a Go Day’ next week

Chagford Fire Station is currently recruiting for on-call firefighters.

The station is inviting those who have thought about being a firefighter to pop along to its event from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, September 17.

The evening is an opportunity to meet the town’s crew and get hands on with some of the kit.

Most fire stations in Devon are crewed by on-call firefighters.

On-call firefighters do the same emergency work as wholetime firefighters, but they can also have other jobs too.

While on duty, they carry a pager, which activates when they need to attend an incident.
