A FIRE crew’s planned trip to a local Newton Abbot nursery was cut short after being called to reports of a fire.

Newton Abbot Fire Station plans to re-arrange its visit to Ark In The Park nursery after Friday’s [September 5] visit had to be abandoned before it got started due to the crew being called away to a nearby fire.

Located outside of Chudleigh, a building being used as a storage unit had been ablaze overnight, with the fire in its ‘dying stages’ when the crew arrived.

Two vehicles at the location were also involved in the fire, which was only discovered on Friday morning.

Crews used a hose reel jet and drag forks to extinguish the remains of the fire.
