MUSIC, pantomime characters, festive lights and lots of Christmas crackers filled the Triangle when Teignmouth's Christmas lights were switched on on Friday.
The community came within 'touching distance' of a world record attempt.
The evening started with live music from a jazz duo organised by the Jazz and Blues Festival, followed by the world record attempt for the longest Christmas cracker pulling chain.
Town centre development manager Emma Kay said: 'We had two independent witnesses, 14 volunteers and 574 participants who all filled the Triangle and came to take part.
