A FAMILY’S special tribute to their beloved daughter who lost her battle with mental health has exceeded all their expectations.

Debbie and Steve Cornish have arranged a day of cycling and cakes based at Ideford Village Hall on Saturday, March 18, in tribute to Danielle, who was 29 when she lost her life.

Their aim was to raise around £500 for the Samaritans to thank them for the help they gave Danielle during her times of greatest need for support.

Debbie contacted the Mid-Devon Advertiser this week to say: ‘The just giving page is around £4,600 which is much more than we ever expected.

‘The village hall will be full of cake donations from 12, so everyone is welcome to pop in and donate and say hello.’

In Danielle’s memory her dad is organising the cycle ride and you can join in at any point and cycle any amount of miles as the route takes in Exeter canal.

You can contact Steve on 07970984729. So far it looks like 50 cyclists have signed up for the 50 mile ride.

‘If you’d rather eat cake then join us at Ideford village hall from 12 noon until we sell out. Cycle, eat cake and Donate,’ says Debbie.

‘As a family we are totally devastated and our lives will never be the same but if we can raise much needed funds for The Samaritans it will enable them to help others like Danielle.

‘Danielle was a huge advocate of the Samaritans and we will be forever grateful for this.’

‘She was a loving cat mum to Travis and filled her time running and volunteering with local groups and played clarinet with The Cardiff wind band.

‘Sadly Danielle passed away just after her 29th birthday in August last year.
