VILLAGERS in Exminster are organising a special event to celebrate nature.
Environmental group Exminster Green Spaces has put together a packed programme of events for the evening.
Exminster Loves Nature will take place on Friday May 23 at the Victory Hall with doors open from 6.30pm.
As well as free tree saplings being given away, there will be updates from the RSPB on Exminster Marshes and details on nature in the churchyard and the latest on Ridgetop Park.
Visitors will also be treated to a special guest appearance by folk artist Phil Beer.
Along with the range of speakers there will be numerous displays in the hall.
These include: South Devon Stitchers with endangered species embroidery, Exminster Green Spaces Hedgehog Corner, Devon Wildlife Trust community and garden award, the Barn Owl Trust and artwork by children from Exminster Community Primary School.
Meanwhile, Exminster Environment Group is encouraging villagers with a lawn to join in the national wildlife initiative No Mow May.
This involves now mowing lawns for the month of May.
From June, lawns can be cut down to one or two inches every four weeks then leaving a patch of the lawn fully uncut.
The aim is to leave lawns uncut to allow bees to collect pollen from dandelions and daisies.
