DEVON charity Moor Trees on the look-out for those who wish to plant woodland or hedgerows this coming Winter.

The charity currently grows approximately 50,000 native broadleaf tree species in their two community tree nurseries which are now available for planting this upcoming Winter.

Moor Trees was started in 1997 by two Dartmoor locals who wanted to restore Dartmoor’s native woodlands.

In the winter of 1998-99 they planted their first tree on Scorriton Down near Buckfastleigh. They have now planted over 120,000 trees.

The charity offers advice to landowners, no matter the size of land, and guides them through the process of woodland design, applying for grants, purchasing trees, tree planting and protecting new trees from deer and rabbits.

Tree Nursery Manager, Darryl Beck, said: ‘Our trees are grown from locally collected seed and nurtured by our volunteers right here in Devon, so you can be assured of where your trees are coming from.’

Often the project can be delivered at little cost to the landowner, depending upon scale and location.

Sign up before the September 30th to guarantee subsidies.
