TEIGN School is ‘extremely proud’ of Year 11 pupil Dominic La Trobe whose poem, ‘Osprey’, has been published in the Young Writers’ ‘Through Their Eyes 2020 Poetry Collection’.

The poem is a wonderful portrayal of catching a fish from a lake through the eyes of a majestic Osprey.

This December, following the book’s release, Dominic had a further surprise when he received a letter stating that he is one of five winners from the 9,000 entries received.

The book editors and an independent judge, Mark Grist, deemed the entry a winner amongst thousands of others.

As well as a copy of the published book, Dominic won a trophy and £100.

‘An amazing achievement, very well deserved,’ said a spokesperson from Teign School.

‘Dominic has a flair for writing and attended the school’s ‘Creative Writing Club’ for many years.

‘We are very proud of him and his talented sister Milly whose poem, ‘I Am’ recently appeared in an Education South West collection.

‘We hope these two young people carry on delighting us with their writing talents.’
