STUDENTS across Teignbridge will be collecting their A level and BTEC results today, Tuesday.

This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards.

The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.

We will add to this story as schools and colleges are able to provide us with information as their students pick up the results of their hard work as they studied through a year of the pandemic.South Devon UTCSTAFF at South Devon UTC have said a huge congratulations to all out students who picked up their final A Level and Level 3 BTEC results today and have done so well.A spokesperson said: ‘For this cohort of students, this year’s experience was unique as they had to cope with two periods of remote learning, the cancellation of formal exams and assessment based on Teacher Assessed Grades.‘These students have been a credit to themselves, their parents and the UTC.‘We are very pleased to be celebrating some superb academic and personal achievements. ‘We are proud that all of our students are either going on in education or taking up employment through apprenticeships. Well done to them all.‘Many of our students reached or exceeded their targets and should be extremely proud of what they have achieved and we are so pleased to have so many get in to their University places and Apprenticeships.’Overall the UTC is delighted. After a challenging 18 months, many students have still managed to attain top grades (A*) in one or more subject. More than 75% are on track to secure their first choice place at the top universities.Almost three quarters of their grades were A* - B and provisional projections suggest at least 50% of those applying to higher education will progress to a Russell Group university. Stover pupils achieved a 100% pass rate, with 65% of grades being awarded at A* to B.The targeted support offered by the school staff and tremendous work ethic displayed by the pupils has resulted, on average, with each candidate exceeding their expected results by a cumulative 1.2 grades.Particular congratulations should go to head girl, Darcy Maxwell, who joined Stover 15 years ago in the nursery, and achieved 2A*s and an A grade in Economics, History and French, as well as an EPQ and is going on to read Politics and International Studies at Warwick University.
