A TEIGNBRIDGE charity has thanked everyone who has supported them through the turbulent times of the past 18 months.
Registered charity AIMS, based at Orchard Manor School in Dawlish, is a children’s special needs support group for families in the Teignbridge area who have a child or children with special needs.
Despite the pandemic and several lockdowns the charity has been lucky enough to hold several fundraising events over the year to keep funds coming in.
‘We are self-funding and rely totally on donations to keep running,’ explained AIMS’ co-ordinator Claire Coombs.
‘We would like to say a massive a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us, especially in these difficult times as this has come from the local community.
‘In June we held our annual sponsored walk to Turf Locks and back where our children thoroughly enjoyed pizza before heading back.
‘We sold cakes on The Lawn during carnival week in August and September saw us hold our annual summer BBQ at The Swan Inn Dawlish and our annual Leek Competition at The Castle Inn in Holcombe.
‘This will allow us to continue supporting local families who have children with special needs.’
AIMS is and runs a free drop in group at the school every Saturday morning from 11 am until 2pm
‘We offer support, play, craft and cooking for families in Devon who have children with special needs and have had some amazing feedback from,’ continued Claire.
‘Qualified play-leaders provide safe, stimulating play and activities for the whole family and a team of dedicated volunteers back up the range of weekly activities and occasional outings.’
