TWO women – one of them pregnant – were rescued by firefighters after a landslip at Shaldon. The pair, aged 33 and 50 from Teignmouth, were walking their dog when they found themselves trapped on Ness Cove, Shaldon, on Wednesday.

About five tonnes of fallen material blocked the steps from the beach to the old smugglers' tunnel under The Ness.

The women used a mobile phone to raise the alarm at 10.10am.
