TWO YELLOW weather warnings have now been issued for severe weather across Teignbridge over the next few days.

The first, for thunderstorms that could cause flooding and disruption in Teignbridge, has been issued by the Met Office and covers from 1.30pm today, Tuesday, to 6am tomorrow (Wednesday).

A Met Office spokesperson said: 'Slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms will break out across many parts of the UK on Tuesday afternoon.

Some places will miss them, but where they do occur they will bring torrential downpours with 25 to 35mm rain falling in an hour and perhaps 40 to 50mm in two to three hours in one or two places.

'Lightning and hail will be additional hazards. These showers and thunderstorms will only slowly die out through the evening, but may persist across northwest England, southwest Scotland and perhaps eastern Northern Ireland into the early hours of Wednesday morning.'

The second Yellow Warning is for slow moving heavy showers and thunderstorms may lead to disruption due to flooding. This covers from noon to 9pm on Thursday, June 18.
