LAST Saturday the Court Leet and Baron of the Manorial Borough Newton Abbot held their annual ‘Law Day’.

This year there was a special double ceremony of the Courts.

Firstly,the portreeve, Carol Bunday, received the chain of office from the Lord Of the Manorial Borough, Keith Stokes-Smith.

Secondly, the courts celebrated 30 years since the reintroduction of the Courts in 1991, by Keith Stokes-Smith.

All fellow officers who held positions of the Courts were re-elected the same time as the portreeve.

The next Courts event is the St Leonard’s Day Fair to be held this Saturday, November 6.
