IT was a magical experience for a group of youngsters who were up close when this pod of dolphins swam past Teignmouth.
The children were just setting out for some sailing as part of a junior activity week, organised by SeaSports South West, based at Teignmouth harbour, when they spotted about eight of the graceful creatures heading towards Torquay, just off the coast.
'I think it made the week for them – they were just fascinated by the dolphins, and so lucky to be able to watch them from a few feet away,' said Tim Cox, of SeaSports.
'We observed them for about 20 minutes as they swam under the boat and rode the bow wave.
'It is rare to be in the right place at the right time in a boat, and the kids were very excited by the unforgettable experience.'
