A DOG owner has admitted that one of her two pets was out of control when it bit a woman in a park in Newton Abbot.

Emily Mace, aged 20, of Little Barton, Kingsteignton, pleaded guilty to being in charge of a cross-breed dog named Conan which caused injury to Janet Collins in Newton Abbot on August 15 last year.

She denied an identical charge which related to her other dog Honcho and will face a trial before a jury at Exeter Crown Court on March 13 next year.

She had been due to be tried next week but the case has been taken out of the list because it will coincide with strike action by barristers, who are protesting about the rates paid for legal aid work.

Mace was released on bail by Judge Neil Davey, QC.
