RESIDENTS living close to Teignmouth docks are complaining about an alleged increase in pollution.

They claim that the threat to health comes from a new semi-permanent structure used to store a special type of sand, which is being imported for British Ceramic Tiles, which has a factory at Heathfield.

But the port boss maintains that there is no problem with dust levels.

Sue Bignell, of Alexandra Terrace, which faces the docks, said residents were concerned about pollution from the new structure, which appeared just before Christmas.

'We believe the docks are not designed from an environmental stance to cope with such an increased workload, which will inevitably bring more dust, noise and vehicles, which are already causing a problem on Exeter Road.
