POLICE are continuing to crack down on drug dealing after seizing more than 150 cannabis plants during an operation in a South Devon town.
Officers executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at an address in Torquay Road, Paignton, on Tuesday, August 25, seizing 161 cannabis plants.
Paignton & Brixham Sector Inspector Pete Giesens explained: ‘Whilst the recent heatwaves have left much of Paignton dry and yellow, our officers managed to locate a large patch of greenery during the execution of a Misuse of Drugs Act Warrant.
‘Cannabis cultivation fuels wider criminal activity, exploiting vulnerable people and causing significant harm to individuals, families and communities.
‘We will continue to take action against all of those involved’.
One local man, 39, was arrested in relation to the drugs seized and has since been released on bail whilst enquiries continue.
If you have information for police about drug issues in your community call the non-emergency 101 number or report via the Devon & Cornwall Police website.
