WINNERS! Geoffrey and Margaret Dixon, who used to run the pharmacy in Torquay Road, Kingskerswell, were the lucky winners of the Mid-Devon Advertiser’s highly popular Devon Bird Atlas competition.

The retired couple, who now live in Torquay, had their names pulled out of the hat which contained a thick pile of competition slips submitted by entrants hoping to bag the spectacularly produced volume which normally sells for £40.

The delighted pair said they were looking forward to using the book to identify the many feathered visitors which fly into their garden to feed on seeds left for them.

Geoffrey said: ‘I’ve not seen the volume in bookshops. It must be as rare as some of the birds in the book!’
