A FETE to help raise funds for the Teignmouth teenager suffering from a rare form of cancer, raised about £400.

The event on the Den on Saturday was supported by Teignmouth Estuary Rotary Club and the Kingsway Residents' Association, and Angie Beeks, mother of Jasmine Flay, described it as 'a fantastic effort'.

Jasmine is being treated for a throat tumour at a pioneering hospital in Bethesda, Washington DC, America – the National Institute of Health – and although the treatment is free, the family still has to pay out thousands of pounds for flights and living expenses for her regular trips to the US.

'She is doing very well – the doctors are so pleased that she is responding to the treatment, and there has been a huge all round improvement in Jasmine. She now only has to go back every six months instead of four,' said Angie.<
