DELIGHTED Rotarians have praised the generosity of people for helping them raise more than £500 for a local foodbank.

The Rotary Club of Dartmoor Vale chose to react to the cost of living problems by helping to raise funds for the local Foodbank THAT (Teignbridge Homeless Action Today).

This has been achieved through their continued assistance of the vaccination service at the Race Course so they have chosen to collect donations for THAT.

This charity is based in Newton Abbot and mainly provides food and toiletries to those in need.

On Monday Rotarian Mike Beer was delighted to report that the donations for five days last week totalled £510. And for the last six weeks totalled £1,295.

‘The South Devon public are always so generous despite the financial pressures everyone is having to face in these difficult times.

‘The public can be reassured that these funds are being sent to T.H.A.T. on a weekly basis by bank transfer.

‘My Club and its members wish to thank everyone who has donated so generously when visiting the Racecourse Vaccination Centre.

‘Our car parking duties will of course continue.’

President Ian Wanless from Dartmoor Vale said: ‘We heard that with the rising energy costs, and cost of living crisis, help was needed.

‘THAT were receiving more and more requests for help and less donations as the cost of living crisis also affected those donors who had previously been generously supporting THAT.

‘Hopefully the generosity of the grateful patients will help us raise much needed funds.’

Fellow Rotarian Rick Birmingham hoped more visitors coming to the Race Course for vaccinations would pop a few coins in their pockets before coming out, ‘although a good number are handing over notes which has been brilliant,’ he added.
