A TEIGNMOUTH organisation that befriends the lonely and isolated is celebrating a £180,000 grant.

'We have a large proportion of elderly people in Teignmouth who do not have any company from one week to the next, and the grant will enable us to reach out and support them in a variety of ways.

'Often a shopping trip can be very difficult for somebody who is alone and has poor mobility, and we will be addressing this.

'It will also enable us to access people who may slip through the system.
