HUNDREDS upon hundreds of former and current pupils, their families and everyone else looking for a good time gathered at Decoy Community Primary School this past weekend for the school’s biggest event of the summer, raising thousands of pounds in the process for the beloved school.

To the joy of many, DecoyFest, which has been absent for the past two years, came back with a bang on Saturday, June 25 and in the midst of the laughter and fun more than £6,000 was raised by Decoy Community Primary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to go towards bettering the beloved school.

PTA Treasurer Claire Moors said: ‘We’re so excited by the announcement that DecoyFest raised more than £6,000.

‘It’s an incredible achievement and all goes to enhancing the education of all the children at the school.’

Those who attended DecoyFest had to pass through a ballon arch donated by Three Little Kiwi’s to get into the festival and once inside were spoilt for choice, whether it be for entertainment to enjoy, stalls to survey or food and drink to savour.

With everything from circus skills and balloon modelling to donkey rides and a karate demonstration, DecoyFest had much on offer for children and adults alike and when hunger came calling there was a BBQ, pizza, ice cream and much more on offer to silence those stomach rumblings.

Chair of Governors at Decoy, Simon Barnes, said: ‘A huge thank you to our PTA  for Decoy Fest - you must have worked so hard to make this event such a huge success.

‘Thank you as well to all those attended and gave so generously - it was wonderful to see so many people  enjoying themselves, not only those with a current or past connection with the school but also those from the wider community.’

Decoy Community Primary School Parent Teacher Association is a registered charity which aims to raises funds for the school as a whole to benefit all students who attend: the PTA are always on the look out for parents to join and help with volunteering and other similar duties.

PTA Chair Zoe McKenzie said: ‘I would like to say a massive thank you to all our volunteers, committee members, entertainers and vendors for contributing to the success of DecoyFest 2022 - we couldn’t have done it without you and we are very grateful to you all.’

‘We hope to make DecoyFest bigger and better each year but we really do need more PTA members moving forward - many hands make light work after all!’
