TIME is running out for Teignbridge residents to apply for help to install central heating.
Householders have until October 14 to apply for a grant from the central heating fund.
Along with other local authorities, Teignbridge Council is supporting the CosyDevon Central Heating Fund which is managed by a number of partners.
The scheme offers eligible residents a new connection to the gas grid, a complete gas central heating system including new, energy efficient boiler, radiators in every room and room thermostats.
If a household meets the eligibility criteria there is no cost.
For the last 18 months, help has been available to provide gas central heating, however offer comes to an end after October 14.
Anyone wanting to apply to benefit in time for the winter needs to get their application in before that date.
Figures reveal that more residents die from living in a cold home in the south west than any other region.
Cllr Humphrey Clemens, Teignbridge Council’s executive spokesman for planning and housing, said: ‘Time is running out on the current deal and we’d urge anyone considering central heating to apply for it while you can.
‘It’s best to get in touch sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.
‘A home without adequate central heating means energy bills are higher.’
Eligible households must be owned or privately rented and not have an existing central heating system.
Those living in the property must either be on a low income of less than £16,010 per annum and referred by a health professional due to a long-term, health conditions exacerbated by the cold or in receipt of income-related benefits.
