REAL ale buff Richard Nicol knew there was something not quite right with his favourite pint.

He insisted Tribute had a different flavour and colour.

The landlady at his village pub took it up with the brewery, which – after a big investigation – initially could not crack the mystery.

But Mr Nicol persisted, and now his finely-tuned palate has been vindicated, after St Austell Brewery, Cornwall, eventually conceded: 'We were wrong, and you were right.'
