DAWLISH CELEBRATES Carnival is marking a major milestone this year with the 50th anniversary of the iconic Pram Race.

Thought to be one of the oldest events of its kind in the country, the race sees competitors in costume and using a decorated wheeled contraption, historically a pram, running a set course to pubs around the town.

This year’s theme is musicals and organisers are hoping there will be 50 entries for the 50th anniversary.

The first pram starting this year’s anniversary event will be by the Farley family in recognition of their long involved with Dawlish carnival and a reputation for ‘fantastically-built’ prams.
