A TEIGNMOUTH amateur photographer has scooped a top wildlife award for his 'stunning' picture of a large red damselfly.
David Chamberlain won the adult category in a Devon Wildlife Trust competition, and also took third place with a picture of a grass snake.
He took the winning photo at the Dunsford Nature Reserve in the Teign Valley, and the one of the snake at Little Bradley Ponds reserve, near Chudleigh Knighton.
He received photographic equipment donated by the Exeter branch of the London Camera Exchange, and cash donated by Francis Clark Accountants, the Moorland Rambler store, and Eggesford Garden and Country Centre.
'I am absolutely delighted to have won, and hope it will help me in my ambition to break into the professional ranks,' said David.
All the entrants had to take their shots at one of the charity's nature reserves, and the organiser, Pat Bussell, added: 'The photos show some of the fantastic wildlife that can be seen on our own doorsteps.
'The best photos will be travelling the country for the public to enjoy, and David's winning shot was stunning.'
