A PLANNING application for the first phase of the Teign Estuary cycle-walkway is expected to be submitted by next summer.

And a preliminary design route for the section between Kingsteignton and Bishopsteignton should be ready within the next two weeks.

Nearly 6,000 people signed a petition urging the county council to speed up the long-awaited trail, and recently there were fears that the project had fallen behind again.

But now it is back on course with the appointment by the county of a project manager, Roger North, who masterminded the Exe Estuary trail from Exmouth to Dawlish, which is now virtually complete.
