THE last major drama production at the Carlton Theatre, Teignmouth, gave a boost to a soldier's charity.
The Teignmouth Players decided to support the Army Benevolent Fund with their version of the Accrington Pals, to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the first world war.
The charity raised £770 by selling its own goods at the show, holding a bucket collection, and a £312 contribution from the Players, who sold raffle tickets at the shows.
ABF representative Robert Jordan, from Wyvern Barracks, Exeter, said the amount would be roughly similar to that awarded to a family in support of an injured soldier.
Visiting members of the Bovey Tracey Players also announced they would be dedicating their coming production of Dad's Army to the charity.
The Teignmouth Players have left the Carlton for a new home at the Ice Factory. The next production, Educating Rita, will be performed at the United Reformed Church from September 23, with tickets available from the tourist information centre.
